SARI & ROGERS ST. PATRICK’S ISLAND ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

When your relationship begins with a swipe right and blossoms over shared ice cream runs and jogs through the city, it only makes sense that your engagement photos reflect that vibe too.

We met up with Sari and Roger for their downtown Calgary engagement session on a warm summer evening, with a plan to wander through one of our favourite urban gems, St. Patrick’s Island. It’s a dreamy spot tucked just beside East Village, with open meadows, tree-lined paths, and some of the best city views Calgary has to offer.

A Love Story That Started on Bumble

Sari and Roger met the modern way, through Bumble, and hit it off instantly. Their early dates were often spent jogging together or on the hunt for the best ice cream in Calgary (we fully support both of these hobbies).

That mix of fun, adventure, and laid-back love is what we wanted to capture in their Calgary engagement photos.

A Sweet Stop at Parlour Ice Cream

Of course, no shoot with Sari and Roger would be complete without a little ice cream action. So our first stop was Parlour Ice Cream in East Village, one of their favourite go-to spots. (If you haven’t tried their salted caramel, trust us… it’s worth it.)

Cameras in hand and cones in tow, we captured a few fun, sticky-fingered moments right outside the shop. Those spontaneous, carefree shots are often our favourite! A little less posed, a little more real.

St. Patrick’s Island

We finished things off with a stroll through St. Patrick’s Island Park. These two are naturals in front of the camera. Full of genuine smiles, playful teasing, and the kind of effortless chemistry that makes our job so (and we mean SO) easy.

There’s something about this park that brings a calm energy to a session. Whether it’s skipping rocks near the Bow River, lounging in the tall grass, or walking hand-in-hand along the bridges, it gives couples the space to relax and just be.

Sessions like this are why we adore being Calgary engagement photographers. The city offers endless variety — from nature escapes like St. Patrick’s Island to colourful local gems like Parlour Ice Cream. When couples bring their personalities and favourite routines into the session, it becomes so much more than just pretty photos.
